Keep all four letters in place and replace just one per move. Every rung must be a word in the game's dictionary. Reordering letters or changing two at once does not count. There is no limit on your steps, so you can explore a longer path and still win.
For example, BOAT → BOOT → LOOT → LOOP → POOP is a valid four-move ladder. The starting word does not count as a move.

Par is the fewest moves from your start word to POOP using the everyday word list. Each start has a par of four, five or six. The game also accepts less common dictionary words, which can sometimes produce an even shorter route. Finish at or below par for a Perfect ladder.
The timer starts after your first accepted move. It keeps running when you undo a step and stops when you reach POOP or give up. Reset and Try again return you to the original word with a fresh clock. There is no time limit.
Yes. Undo removes your last accepted step. Reset clears the current ladder, and Give up reveals a route from your current word to POOP, using everyday words where possible. A given-up round is not saved as a win. New word starts a different puzzle.
